What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer by websites you visit.
They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently for visitors, and to provide information to the owners of the site. Some of the cookies we use are essential in order for parts of the website to operate.
Cookies are used on the website for my own internal purposes, to track how users navigate through the website. This helps me to evaluate and improve the website and my online services.
I use information derived from cookies in order to:
- compile statistics on how the website is being used, which can help me to improve the website and online services.
- facilitate users’ ability to navigate through the website.
- ascertain whether the website is operating effectively.
- personalise and improve the service I offer you by understanding your preferences and establishing which areas of the website are most relevant to you.
In your web browser you can control which types of cookies you allow. You can turn cookies on or off using your browser’s settings. You can also delete cookies and clear your browser’s cache (history).
As part of the registration process for ongoing communication from me, I collect personal information. I use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about stuff you’ve asked me to tell you about; to contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information; to check my records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. I don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.
I use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver newsletters and mailings. I gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry-standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my mailings. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of my emails or by emailing Bill McLaughlin, who is the Data Protection officer (DPO)
